<img src="https://circuitdigest.com/sites/default/files/field/image/IR-Decoder-for-Multi-Speed-AC-Motor-Control.png" alt="IR Decoder for Multi-Speed AC Motor Control" style="" draggable="true">The IR Decoder for Multi-Speed AC Motor is capable of decoding signals from IR remotes.Single-phase alternating current motors are used in home devices like fans,and their speed may be readily adjusted with a number of individual windings for specified speeds. We develop a digital controller in this project that allows users to regulate things like motor speed and operation time. This project also includes an infrared receiver circuit that supports the NEC protocol,which allows a motor to be operated via push buttons or an infrared transmitter signal.To carry this out,a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.dialog-semiconductor.com/products/greenpak/slg46620">GreenPAK™ SLG46620 IC</a> is used as a basic controller in charge of these diverse functions: a multiplex circuit for activating one of three speeds,three-period countdown clocks,and an infrared decoder for receiving an external infrared signal and extracting and executing the desired command. The use of a GreenPAK IC allows manufacturers to combine many of the desired functionalities into a single chip,lowering system costs and simplifying manufacturing oversight.The entire system has been thoroughly tested to ensure proper operation. Special adjustments or additional parts appropriate to the chosen motor may be required in the final circuit.To check that the system is operating nominally,test cases for the <a target="_blank" href="_wp_link_placeholder">inputs</a> have been generated with the help of the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.dialog-semiconductor.com/go-configure-software-hub">GreenPAK Designer</a> emulator. The application of the emulation module executes a number of test scenarios for the IR decoder,and the final design produced with it is tested with an actual motor.<h2 id="af2e5e99-8da4-483c-a481-8e4276083e37" data-toc-id="af2e5e99-8da4-483c-a481-8e4276083e37">1. 3-Speed AC Fan Motor</h2>Three-speed AC motors are single-phase alternating current motors. They're commonly found in a range of household appliances,like fans of various varieties (wall fans,table fans,box fans). Managing <a target="_blank" href="http://speed">speed</a> in an alternating current motor is more difficult than controlling speed in a DC motor because the frequency of the delivered current must change to change the motor speed. Fans and refrigerators,for example,do not typically require fine granularity in speed but rather defined stages such as low,medium,and high speeds. AC fan motors have many built-in coils intended for various speeds for these purposes,and shifting from one speed to another is achieved by energizing the appropriate speed coil.<img src="https://maker.pro/storage/angHCQc/angHCQcoH9Rz6pOsrX6k9MGuUni2vRIrWG1TE68t.jpg" alt="figure1.jpg" style="" draggable="true">The motor we use for this particular project is a three-phase,five-wire AC motor that has four wound wires for speed control,two wound wires for power,and a start capacitor as displayed in the following illustration. With regard to motor information,many motor vendors use white wires for connection identification. A motors datasheet will show the distinct motor information with regard to this identification.<img src="https://maker.pro/storage/QPDGtq1/QPDGtq1tD0vBkSbAL5ZFv3IFy4AgmQW7760NmutF.jpg" alt="figure2.jpg" style="" draggable="true"><h2 id="560e49c2-0c88-41f6-8da7-9ebfaa6244ce" data-toc-id="560e49c2-0c88-41f6-8da7-9ebfaa6244ce">2. Project Analysis</h2>The setup of the GreenPAK IC in this project is to select a command to respond to one given in the source such as an IR transmitter or an external button.On/Off: The system is turned on or off with each interpretation of this command. The state of The system will be reversed with each rising edge of the system command.Timer: the settings include 30,60,and 120 minutes. The <a target="_blank" href="http://timeer">time</a> is shut off after the fourth pulse,and the timer period returns to its initial state.Speed: Timer settings include 30,60,and 120 minutes. IR Decoder</h2>An IR decoder circuit is built to receive signals from an external IR transmitter and activate the desired command. We adopted the NEC protocol because of its popularity among manufacturers. NEC protocol uses "pulse distance" to encode every bit; each pulse takes 562.5 us to be transmitted using the signal of a 38 kHz frequency carrier.A logic 1 signal takes 2.25 milliseconds to transmit,while a logic 0 signal takes 1.125 milliseconds. Figure 3 shows the pulse train transmission according to the NEC protocol.The 9-ms AGC burst is followed by a 4.5-ms gap,the 8-bit address,and finally the 8-bit command. The address and command are sent twice; the second time is 1's complement (all bits are inverted) as parity to verify that the message is received correctly. GreenPAK Design</h2>Relevant code sections are obtained through several stages. To start,the desired start edge of the message is determined by 9ms of analog-to-digital AGC addressed in CNT2 and with a 2-bit LUT1. If this has been identified,4.5ms ofን SWE- compliant memory space is specified afterward using CNT6 and with a 2L2 LUT6. If the header is correct,DFF0 output is marked as High to send the data address. The blocks CNT9,3L0,3L3 and DLY0 are used to extract the clock pulses from the received message. The bit value is taken at the rising edge of IR CLK signal,0.845ms from the rising edge of IR IN.After the interpreted address has been based on the PGEN,the addresses stored in the PGEN are compared to the address stored in the 2LUT0 XOR gate. 2LUT0 is an XOR gate,and the PGEN stores the inverted address. Each bit of the PGEN is compared with the received signal,and each comparison's result is stored in DFF2 along with the rising edge of IR-CLK.The interpreted address is then compared with the one stored in the PGEN using 2LUT0. 2LUT0 is an XOR gate,and the PGEN stores the inverted address. Each bit of the PGEN individually compares the input bit against the corresponding bit,completely reversing the bits of the final product. Each final bit in the DFF2 register corresponds directly with the incoming inverted bit on IR-CLK's rising edge.If an error in the address is detected,the 3-bit LUT5 SR latch output is set to High to prevent the rest of the message from being compared (the command). The second part of the message (command &amp; inverted command) is directed to SPI if the received address matches the stored address in PGEN,allowing the requested command to be read and performed. CNT5 and DFF5 are used to specify the end of the address and the beginning of the command,with CNT5's 'Counter data' equaling 18: 16 pulses for the address plus the first two pulses (9ms,4.5ms).The 3L3 OR Gate output delivers the signal Low to SPI's nCSB pin to be triggered if the whole address,including the header,has been appropriately received and stored in the IC (in PGEN). As a result,the SPI begins to receive the command.<img src="https://maker.pro/storage/1GZnmDW/1GZnmDWwMevkF2ECZ7xwqIWKL7z5tJu80JwMepzf.jpg" alt="figure4.jpg" style="" draggable="true">The&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.dialog-semiconductor.com/products/greenpak/slg46620">SLG46620</a>&nbsp;IC has 4 internal registers of 8-bit length and it is thus possible to store four different commands. DACMP1 is a program that compares externally dispatched commands to internally-stored string registers,and it uses two 2-X bits in order to generate a binary counter that,when connected to MTRX SEL &nbsp;0 and &nbsp; 1 of the two bits,successively compares the received command to the registers.DFF6,DFF7,DFF8,and 2L5,2L6,and 2L7 were used to build a decoder with a latch. The design works as follows: the SPI output is compared to register 3 if A1A0=00. DCMP1 produces a High signal at its EQ output if both values are equal. Because A1A0=00,2L5 is activated,and DFF6 produces a High signal,indicating that the signal On/Off has been received. CNT7 and CNT8 are configured as 'Both Edge Delay' for the rest of the control signals to generate a time delay and allow the DCMP1 to alter the state of its output before the DFFs hold the value of output.
