In 2022,consumer electronics previously showing sturdy chip demand are expected to lose traction.

The automotive industry has faced the most disruption from the chip shortage. The number of chips onboard the average vehicle is quite high,and vehicles are routinely equipped with thousands upon thousands of semiconductors to ensure that they are safe,operate efficiently,and are connected to the Internet. The present chip difficulties facing the industry have their roots in 2018,according to a TSMC spokesperson who talked with Time. Smartphone sales were surging and everything was becoming connected,even refrigerators and packaging,but demand for cars was weak.

Power,despite the fact that demand for new automobiles fell by 2.6% between August 2021 and August 2022 as a result of supply shortages,inflation,and rising interest rates,consumer spending on new cars increased by 13% during that time.

As part of the qualifying process,examine and take into account suppliers' worldwide footprints to reduce any potential risks associated with having suppliers primarily located in one area.</li><li>Visibility: Give your suppliers as much information as you can so they can schedule their production capacity and any prospective longer-term capital expenditures. Place long-term orders as soon as it is practiced through the end of 2023 and even into 2024 to improve visibility for wafer and capacity planning,since certain vendors want 12 to 24 months of visibility.</li><li>Increasing planning systems' lead times and adding more buffered inventories: The majority of commodities now have longer lead periods; adjust your planning processes to account for these delays.
